Tuvalu – a tiny and remote Pacific island – is gravely threatened by rising sea levels and other climatic problems such as fresh water shortages.

If sea levels keep rising, the islanders face a future as environmental refugees.

When Mark Hayes visited the island in 2004 he found people grappling with unwelcome changes to their diet and lifestyle.
