The Brazilian government wants to find out how many people work in the so-called 'informal' economy, where it is easier for people to avoid paying their tax.

Although it is an illegal activity, for the first time, 'prostitute' or 'sex worker' appears on a government register as an officially classified occupation.

The women themselves are usually very ashamed of what they do in this Catholic country and view sex work as the last resort. Melina Costa observed the scene in Curitiba, where the girls work in a busy park.
