The Kenyan environmentalist Wangari Maathai made history when she became the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Professor Maathai told Interworld Radio why she doubts genetically modified foods can solve hunger in Africa.

And she called for the continent to have more confidence in its own scientific findings.
