Old Bags for Panos London

A performance, on Saturday October 16th, of the new play Old Bags at the New Wimbledon Studios in London will be in support of Panos London.

Lumenis Theatre Company brings the incisive new comedy drama, Old Bags, to Wimbledon. Written by the acclaimed Mary Mazzilli, Old Bags recalls the days that pass with unceasing repetition in the lives of Vivian and Dorian. Vivian, an Irish lady in her seventies, widow of a British Army official, ignores the first signs of dementia. Dorian, like a hamster on a wheel, questions his place in the rat race.

Showing for five nights at the New Wimbledon Studio from 12th – 16th October, the final performance of Old Bags will be in support of international development charity Panos London. The charity is part of a global not-for-profit network promoting the participation of poor and marginalised people in development debates through media and communication projects.

Mazzilli said: "Lumenis Theatre Company shares with Panos London the belief that it is through communication, media and art that the world around us can be changed through giving a voice to the world's poor. By coming along and seeing Old Bags on Saturday night, theatre-goers can support their local arts' scene while helping people across the globe to speak out on poverty, disease and climate change."

Panos London's Director of Fundraising, Vincenzo Martinelli added: "We are thrilled that the proceeds from Saturday's evening performance of Old Bags will go towards ensuring poor and marginalised people have a say on issues that affect their lives such as HIV and AIDS, and lead their own development. Communicating how we feel about issues affecting our lives is something that many of us take for granted but millions of people around the world never get the chance to have their voices heard."

To book tickets for the final evening performance on Saturday 16th October, please email donatella.fregonese@panos.org.uk or call 020 7239 7638. Performances begin at 7:45pm, with a Saturday matinee at 3pm. Tickets are £12 (£10 conc.). Tickets for all performances are available from the New Wimbledon Studio box office on 08448 717 646 or visit http://www.ambassadortickets.com/Wimbledon-Studio .

"Mazzilli’s style of theatre is excellent for a discerning, inquisitive audience member who enjoys a challenge".
