A good education often starts with the development of a good childhood reading habit.

In Zambia home-grown publishers and children's writers have received a boost from the Zambia Library Service, which has used recent foreign donations of cash to buy children's books by Zambian writers.

The service also organises outreach visits, sometimes taking writers such as Kenneth Kagende out to meet young readers.
