After the Rwandan genocide the government gave women more decision-making powers. Now Rwanda has the highest proportion of women MPs in the world.

Some of those MPs were elected from the grassroots – most were appointed under a quota system to get more women into government.

Joel Tema asked Rwandan women whether the MPs have made a difference. First, he asked Connie Bwiza, an MP and advocate of women's rights, how she made it to the top.
